| North Etobicoke is surrounded by fast growing industrial areas, which offer a wide range of employment opportunities. The engagement of this flourishing business community is the key to the revitalization of the area.
Since the early days of NERP, various local employers have contributed their time and effort, either by participating in the consultative process that resulted in the Community Revitalization Plan, or by taking part in one of the five NERP work groups.
As part of an employer capacity cluster study under the LMEI project, NERP's consultants surveyed over a hundred local employers this summer to better understand their hiring needs and challenges. On November 24, 2005, NERP will be hosting a conference to bring together local employers, service providers, trades and professional bodies, and education and training deliverers. In addition to sharing the results of the cluster study, the conference's main goal is to identify, through facilitated discussions among the participants, innovative and creative strategies to develop a vibrant employment and economic development sector in the community.

NERP is committed to support and continue working with the local business sector in the following ways:
- continue to engage local employers on NERP's work groups;
- provide current, online information on employer support programs, employment service providers and local news and events in the economic development and employment sectors;
- provide an e-bulletin that will enable communication with and among local employers and NERP;
- provide a password protected list serve function that gives employers direct access to local employment service agencies;
- provide an online business directory for local employers to list their products and services;
- facilitate the development of an employers' network and/or a business/industry association.
