In December 2004, NERP's Safety_Work_Group hosted its first ever "North Etobicoke Celebrates" event at the Albion Centre. The focus of the event was to celebrate the reduction of crime in north Etobicoke (Rexdale) of more than twice the Toronto City’s average. This event saw the coming together of over 300 people, including special guest Toronto Mayor David Miller, signaling a strong commitment to the revitalization of our great community.
On February 23, 2006, the Safety Work Group will hold its second “North Etobicoke Celebrates” event at the Albion Centre (1530 Albion Rd) in the food court from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. This event will showcase the talents of local youth and children, and the wide range of services provided by local community agencies. Co-chairs Councillor_Suzan_Hall and Superintendent Ron Taverner will be joined by Toronto Mayor David Miller and Police Chief Bill Blair.
Entertainment at this event will include North Albion Collegiate Institute’s Stopp Dancers, West Humber Collegiate Institute’s Steel Band and Percussion Band, two choirs and a band from St. Andrew Catholic Elementary School, and a Dramatic Arts Troupe from Father Henry Carr Catholic Secondary School.
